What determines the cost of a root canal in Lahore?
The tooth decides most of it. A front tooth usually has one canal and is straightforward; a molar can have three or four, sometimes curved or calcified, and takes considerably longer. Whether the tooth is being treated for the first time or a previous root canal is being redone matters too, as does the crown it will need afterwards.
- Which tooth it is — front teeth have one canal, molars typically three or four, and each canal has to be cleaned, shaped and sealed individually.
- Whether it is a first treatment or a retreatment. Redoing a failed root canal means removing the previous filling material before the tooth can be cleaned again, which is slower and more technically demanding.
- Canal anatomy. Curved, narrow or calcified canals take longer and sometimes need a microscope to negotiate safely.
- The restoration afterwards. Most back teeth need a crown to stop them splitting, and the crown material changes the total — a root canal quoted without the crown is an incomplete figure.
- Whether the tooth is infected and needs to be settled before treatment can be completed.
What determines the cost of braces in Lahore?
Two things: which appliance you have, and how long you need it. Metal braces, ceramic braces and clear aligners sit at different levels because the materials and manufacturing differ. Beyond that, complexity drives the total — whether extractions are needed, whether the bite must be corrected as well as the alignment, and how many adjustment visits that implies.
- The appliance. Metal brackets, ceramic brackets and custom-manufactured clear aligner sequences differ in cost by their nature.
- Treatment length. Mild crowding can finish inside a year; a case needing bite correction or jaw growth guidance runs considerably longer, and every month is another adjustment visit.
- Whether extractions are required to create space.
- Whether the bite itself has to change, not just the tooth positions — that is a different scope of treatment from straightening alone.
- Retainers, which are part of the plan rather than an optional extra. Ask whether a quote includes them; retention is for life.
What determines the cost of a dental implant in Lahore?
Mostly whether the site is ready for one. An implant into healthy, sufficient bone is the simplest case. A tooth lost years ago has usually left bone that has resorbed, so a graft and additional healing months come first. The abutment and crown on top, and their material, complete the figure.
- Bone volume at the site. This is the single biggest variable, and it cannot be assessed without a 3D scan — which is why a firm quote given before one is a guess.
- Whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed before the post can be placed.
- Whether the failing tooth still has to be extracted, and how much healing that requires first.
- The restoration: abutment plus crown, and which material.
- How many teeth are being replaced, and whether implants are supporting individual crowns, a bridge, or a denture.
What determines the cost of a crown or filling?
For a crown, the material is the main driver — zirconia and all-ceramic look natural and suit front teeth, while metal-ceramic is hard-wearing and often perfectly appropriate on a back tooth. For a filling, it is the size and number of surfaces involved. What changes either total most is what the tooth needs first.
- Crown material, and whether the tooth is visible when you smile.
- Filling size — a small single-surface cavity and a large multi-surface rebuild are different pieces of work.
- Whether the tooth needs root canal treatment or a build-up before it can hold a crown at all.
- Whether an existing restoration is being replaced, and what is found underneath it once removed.
What determines the cost of teeth whitening?
Which route suits you. In-clinic whitening is a single supervised session with a stronger gel; custom take-home trays are used over one to two weeks; some people do both, starting in the clinic and maintaining with trays. Existing crowns or white fillings on front teeth can add to the plan, because those do not whiten.
- In-clinic session, take-home trays, or a combination.
- How much staining there is, and its cause — surface staining from tea and tobacco responds differently from intrinsic discolouration.
- Whether visible crowns, veneers or fillings will need replacing afterwards to match the new shade. That is a separate decision, and it should be discussed before you start rather than after.

Because a price list for dentistry is either wrong or misleading, and usually both. How do I compare quotes between dental clinics?
Compare what is included, not the headline number, because that is where two quotes usually differ. For a root canal, ask whether the crown afterwards is in the figure. For braces, ask whether retainers and all adjustment visits are included, and what happens if treatment runs longer than planned. For an implant, ask whether it covers the abutment and crown as well as the post, and whether grafting is included or will be added later. Then ask who will actually carry out the treatment and what their training is — for implants and surgical cases especially, that is a legitimate reason for quotes to differ. A cheaper quote that omits a stage is not cheaper.
Why is the cheapest quote often not the cheapest treatment?
Because dentistry that fails has to be redone, and redoing it usually costs more than doing it properly the first time. A root canal completed without a crown on a back tooth is the common example: the tooth splits under chewing force months later, and a tooth fractured below the gum line generally cannot be saved, so a saved tooth becomes an extraction and an implant. Under-quoting also happens by omission rather than dishonesty — a stage left out of the estimate reappears as a second bill. This is not an argument that expensive is better. It is an argument for comparing complete plans against each other.
What payment options do you offer?

Can I be treated in stages to spread the cost?
Often, yes, and for a lot of treatment plans it is the sensible approach rather than a concession. When several things need doing, they rarely all need doing at once: anything painful or actively infected is dealt with first, then the work that prevents a problem getting worse, then anything elective. Dr. Manahil Iftikhar will tell you which category each item falls into and what the real consequence of waiting is for each one — including where waiting is genuinely fine. What we will not do is stage treatment in a way that leaves a tooth half-treated and vulnerable in between.
